Osel Group Calls for Immediate De-escalation Following U.S. Bombing of Iran Nuclear Sites; Urges ASEAN to Step Forward as Regional Peace Broker

ree

22 June 2025, Kuala Lumpur - Osel Group expresses deep concern over the reported United States airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, an act that threatens to spiral into a larger regional or even global conflict. As tensions rise, we call upon all parties involved to exercise utmost restraint and prioritize diplomacy over destruction.

This escalation not only endangers lives in the immediate conflict zones but also risks triggering a chain reaction of instability across the Middle East and beyond. The potential for global economic disruption, heightened sectarian violence, and humanitarian crisis is real and alarming.

In light of these developments, Osel Group strongly urges the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to take a proactive role in regional and global peacekeeping efforts. With its history of neutrality, dialogue, and multilateral cooperation, ASEAN is uniquely positioned to:

• Call for an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation of hostilities

• Offer neutral grounds for diplomatic negotiations

• Engage the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to unify Muslim-majority nations in pursuit of peace

• Safeguard Southeast Asia from extremist threats and fallout

• Mobilize humanitarian efforts should the conflict widen

We believe the moral responsibility to promote peace transcends borders. ASEAN’s voice, rooted in unity and moderation, can serve as a vital counterbalance to rising global aggression.

War cannot be the answer. The world must return to dialogue, understanding, and respect for international law. Osel Group remains committed to supporting efforts that protect life, uphold human dignity, and foster sustainable peace.
